3rd Annual Event Supports Kids Now!
Last Saturday, the Plaid Shirt Society hosted our third annual event in support of Kids Now, this year at Hotel Ocho in downtown Toronto. Thanks to the generous donations of each of our attendees, we've once again shown that with a bit of planning and some solid determination, a grassroots group can rally friends and family to support a worthy cause. $4400 raised at North Bay's Event
On Saturday October 27th the Plaid Shirt Society proudly hosted their second annual Halloween fundraiser in support of the Gathering Place, North Bay's soup kitchen. Fifty guests enthusiastically walked through the doors of Club Les Bon Amis in North Bay, wearing outrageous costumes to support the cause. Those in attendance enjoyed an evening of great food, monster DJ mashups, costume prizes, and a silent auction which was proudly supported by donations from local business and spending time with friends and family in a warm yet energetic atmosphere.
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the event. With your generous donations we raised $4 400 which will go towards feeding over 2000 people at the Gathering Place!View more photos on Facebook.

The Plaid Begins
Erin Klassen, Erik von Stackelberg and Kurtis Robinson began this project with the intention of paying tribute to our brother and best friend, Nicholas Klassen, who died suddenly on October 27th, 2009 from complications due to the H1N1 virus. Nick was 23 years old when he died, and a recent graduate of the University of Ottawa's Social Sciences program. From an early age, Nick was the kind of young man who sought to make a difference in his own backyard - whether he was supporting his high school, university, church, government or local community, Nick believed that change begins with positive thinking, communication and being socially brave enough to lend a hand to your neighbour. It is our hope that The Plaid Shirt Society will honour Nick's life and his generous spirit by following in his footsteps.
